Rana Basharat Ali Khan condemns the intensifying persecution of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar and appeals to the international community to act decisively. The recent high-level international conference spotlighted the relentless violations endured by Rohingya and other minorities. Reports confirmed that since the military coup in 2021, civilians have faced forced conscription, denial of citizenship, aerial bombardment, mass displacement, sexual violence, and severe restrictions on access to food, medicine, and basic services.More than one million Rohingya remain in refugee camps in Bangladesh, while many more are displaced within Myanmar under dire conditions. Aid to these populations faces severe shortfalls.Myanmar’s government recently confirmed that 180,000 Rohingya listed by Bangladesh are eligible for return, but the verification process is stalled and limited in scope. The ruling military junta and armed groups in Rakhine State continue to wield violence amid conflict. Civilians are trapped between warring parties.Rana Basharat Ali Khan demands:• A binding international mechanism to monitor and enforce protections for Rohingya and other vulnerable minorities• Judicial processes under universal jurisdiction to prosecute perpetrators of atrocities• Full restoration of citizenship rights for Rohingya• Assurance that any repatriation is voluntary, dignified, safe, and includes full rights• Substantial increase in humanitarian funding to prevent famine, disease, displacement, and further human sufferingThe International Human Rights Movement mobilizes across continents to uphold human dignity. It coordinates global advocacy, legal support, and oversight in nations suffering rights crises. It partners with civil society groups, refugee networks, and survivors to amplify marginalized voices. The Movement asserts that human rights must never be conditional or negotiable.
